About Us

We are a domestic carpentry, building and construction company, stemming and growing from a multi-generational family run and owned business.

We pride ourselves in our values and reputation.

Quality 🢝 Clear and Transparent 🢝 Trustworthy 🢝 Well Organized 🢝 Reliable 🢝 Attention to Detail 🢝 Efficient

We value the highest quality workmanship and professionalism and work with people who desire superior quality over cheapest prices. We are flexible and understanding with the changing and evolving circumstances that are likely to occur in a build and are able to make even the most difficult of situations work. As both a Domestic Builder Unlimited (DBU) project manager and tradesperson, I have a unique insight into problem solving, which if you have any experience with renovations or builds in the past, you will understand how valuable an attribute like this is.

The vision is clear, simple: lead transparent communication and deliver a quality product to clients who are happy and better off doing business with us. Through this approach, all our work has been via referral as we have built an exemplary reputation.

Reputation is paramount.

We limit the number of jobs ongoing at any time in order to maintain quality and deliver products that clients desire. The delivery of quality is key to continuing an acclaimed reputation and exceeding expectations. We operate in a manner that is clear, professional and transparent that aims to make the experience enjoyable for us and the clients.

With detailed architectural jobs, it is so much about getting to know the client, what finish they are after, what details they are after; getting to know them and what they are trying to achieve. Plans have great details but there are always little decisions to make along the way that are not included in the plans.

We do not volume build. We wish to work with architectural plans and clients who are focused on a home they wish to live in. We understand that changes occur through the build process and we must find performance solutions along the way. No problem is too difficult, no solution is unattainable. Although the process of building can be difficult and trying at times, restoring, extending, and renovating homes of age and character is enjoyable.

We make beautiful homes. It is what we love to do.

We predominately operate out of Melbourne East and South-East but some projects have taken us further in and surrounding Melbourne.

  • James Rosenhain

    DIRECTOR

  • Bio

My name is James Rosenhain and I am the director of Forged Constructions (DBU). I have been working in building and construction since 2000 in the family business; starting with a bit of everything including labour and basic carpentry, putting in my time learning the ropes from the ground up all the way to project managing and running entire builds. I have worked with many knowledgable tradespeople and experts in the past and have become very versatile as a result. In my appreciation for always being the best and staying relevant, I have also taken on apprentices of my own to support others in their learning and excelling in the trade.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing, Economics and Finance and of course a Certificate in Carpentry. I am particular about ensuring effective communication amongst all stakeholders in a job, so that the client is informed and happy and the trades are organized and efficient. This also helps establish trust between the client and myself, so that we can work well together throughout the process. I am particular about the quality of workmanship and always ensure that my work is of a high standard. I have the unique advantage of being able to ensure a successful, reliable, highly reputable business while also being able to directly organize and work on the build.

I have a history of playing team sports, so I understand the value of working towards the best outcome for all and how each player contributes to the whole. Just like in a game, each person related to a build plays their part in achieving the final product. It is important to organize everyone and support them in producing their best work.

I have been fortunate to have done some world traveling in the past and whilst abroad, I met my Canadian wife. We have settled down in Melbourne to support each other in our respective careers, hers as a high school Physics teacher. We are both passionate about the quality of our work, enjoy home improvement (we have been through all the time consuming trials and tribulations of extensive home renovations), and love our chance to get away to the Australian bush and fishing in the bay. We have a son who can’t quite wield a hammer (safely) yet, but likes to walk around saying “I’m a builder” and “dad built our house”, my favourite apprentice in life. Our daughter is still a bit too small to do much more than giggle and chew on anything within her grasp, but her happiness contributes so much to our little family.

Quality, trust and reliability in building and construction.
